School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS)

What is SWPBS?

School-wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) is a framework comprised of intervention practices and organisational systems for establishing the social culture, learning and teaching environment, and individual behaviour supports needed to achieve academic and social success for all students. SWPBS is not a specific “model” but a compilation of effective practices, interventions, and systems change strategies that have a long history of empirical support and development and individually have been demonstrated to be empirically effective. Decades of converging research has consistently demonstrated that these strategies are individually and collectively effective and efficient. (PBIS.org)

SWPBS at St. Patrick’s

At St. Patrick’s our SWPBS core values are Be Responsible, Be Respectful and Be Safe. We have developed a MATRIX that is used to explicitly teach our students how to be responsible, respectful and safe in all elements of their school life. These core values are part of every classroom and are implemented by all staff throughout our school.

Please see the video below for a brief explanation about SWPBS (SWPBS is known as PBIS in some countries).
